How Long Do Hemorrhoids Last?
Hemorrhoids are an ailment that affect a large percentage of the population at any given time. The painful itching, burning and discomfort can strike anyone and for different reasons too. They also come with different severity levels from mild discomfort to truly painful conditions.
So you may be wondering, how long do hemorrhoids last?
The answer to this question will have a couple variables to it. One would be whether or not you are actively using hemorrhoid treatment. Sometimes this hemorrhoid treatment will be as simple as using a stool softener. Since hemorrhoids are generally aggravated by difficultly passing a bowel movement, if you make sure that your bowel movements are easier to pass this may be enough to heal your hemorrhoids. In this case your hemorrhoids will probably one last a few days at most.
The other factor playing into how long your hemorrhoids will last would be the severity level of your hemorrhoids. For mild cases you may only need to take a stool softener or increase the fiber in your diet. You may also find soothing relief with an over-the-counter cream. However, if you are suffering from a more severe cases of hemorrhoids it may not be that simple. And sometimes your hemorrhoids may not be healed as quickly.
More severe cases can find relief with treatments such as witch hazel applications, sitz bath, and possibly herbal remedies. Soothing the pain can be achieved with an Aloe Vera gel and making sure that no additional pressure is placed on the blood vessels leading up to the anus. You may want to consider laying down when possible and/or trying to keep up some moderate exercise such as walking to help increase your blood circulation.
